The book I am reviewing is not actually a new book. I never really intended to do much reading, but i just picked up this book at a random bookstore.
Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince
Summary:
Harry Potter, now starting his sixth year at Hogwarts is now known as the Chosen One, widely publicised as one who would ultimately defeat the Dark Lord, Voldemort. The start of this book abruptly starts as the Minister for Magic meets the Prime Minister of the Muggles (non-magic people) to explain why his country is suffering so much sorrow.
Continuing from the previous book, Harry Potter received his OWL results and manged to get a favourable score to get the subjects he wants. He enters school and experiences a really exhausting experience when the teachers pile them up with so much homework.
Of course, the story is more than just that. Dumbledore now takes Harry under his wing and teaches him of Voldemorts path and eventually he ask Harry to get a memory from the new teacher, Professor Slughorn.
Harry gets the memory after much persuasion and much difficulty and when Harry and Dumbledore views it, they find out Voldemort has created Horcruxes, magical items in which he has hidden his soul in, so taht even if his mortal body dies, he will not die as his soul is still alive somewhere.
Harry and Dumbledore discusses of what and where the Horcruxes may be and discover some surprising discoveries. Dumbledore has believed what he thinks to be a Horcrux and invites Harry along. The protection to the Horcrux is very powerful and Dumbledore is seriously weakened and almost killed. When they finally get the Horcrux, Harry apparates them back to Hogwarts and they find that Hogwarts have been infiltrated. In Dumbledores' weakened state, in spite of his weakness, he protests to go to Hogwarts and find that Death Eaters have entered Hogwarts. Draco appears and threatens to kill Dumbeldore.
In the end, Snape kills Dumbledore and Harry, in his fury, chases him and vows revenge. Unfortunately, he does not manage to do so and Snape escapes.
Overall, this books title does not really encompasses thes story itself. This is a good book but really if you prefer books with more hack and slash action, this book is not for you.
